British Waterways Lock Keepers Cottage

This investigation was conducted in a cottage that is being lived in by the Lock Keeper & his family. We did two investigations at this property due to the number of members & also to see what would be picked up by two of our mediums. Again only four members knew the location of the investigation and the team only found out as the pulled up including the mediums.

Due to most of the reported activity taking place in the master bedroom & on the stairs this is where the cameras were set up.
The team members on this investigation were - Dave, Sheryl, John A, Mark I, Carol, Steve, Ann, Joy & Ian. Also Tony & Teresa (Lock Keeper & his wife) were also with us for most of the night & Nick to help set everything up at the beginning of the night.
Everyone had arrived by 21.00, the cameras etc had already been set up. We started the walkabout at 21.55. There was Carol, Steve, Ann, Joy, Dave, Ian & Mark. We started of in the master bedroom where carol felt that the air/atmosphere was very heavy, Carol felt that this room hadn’t always been a bedroom because she was only picking up an empty room, but she felt that there is more than one spirit person that is active here & there is also a small animal that runs round here this is maybe one of the owners pets.
Joy & Carol have both gone really cold; they have got goose-bumps all over. (The room was really warm & no one else felt like this).
Carol is getting the sensation that someone is pulling the back of her T-Shirt, Carol senses that it is being pulled by a female. Then it seems as if the floor boards are vibrating as if someone is walking over them.
Steve is filming this & told us that just before Carol said that her T-Shirt was being pulled he caught an orb on the film going down the back of Carol.
Carol senses that someone stands at the bottom of the bed, but at this stage she is not sure if it is a child or an adult.
The temperature in the room seems to be dropping & the atmosphere doesn’t seem so heavy.
Carol thinks that it was a little girl that pulled her T-Shirt. Nick confirmed that someone has been seen at the bottom of the bed, but will not confirm anything else at this moment.
Carol feels that there is a gentleman that visits here, not in the bedroom at the moment he seems to spend most of his time on the landing.
Carol picks up on the name “Bentley” not sure if that is the name of the man who is here? Carol asks if someone has fallen in to the lock – Male.
Carol also asks if the lady of the house (Teresa) has ever woken up with a male standing over her on the right hand side of the bed. Carol moved round to that side of the bed near a small chest of draws the atmosphere seems very heavy here. Carols legs & feet are freezing & she can sense the small animal is round her legs. There seems to be bump noise near the set of draws.
Joy is standing near the window, which overlooks the canal & keeps getting the sensation that she is being pulled backwards, because she feels unstable she takes her shoes off. After a couple of minutes Joy has to sit in the chair as her heart is racing, her hands start to twitch & her breathing becomes very heavy. Joy is shaking that much that it makes the floor boards vibrate, Carol cannot sense anything & after a few moments Joy calm’s down.
We all move to the spare bedroom.
Carol is picking up on a man on the stairs; the bedroom door seems to be moving.
Joy again gets the sensation that she is being pulled backwards as if she needs to go outside?
Carol thinks that someone has fallen down the stairs, but the stairs & the layout is not the same as it is now.
Steve gets a tickling sensation on his face & picks up on an Orb behind Sheryl in the corner of the window wall.
Carol say’s that there is definitely a man on the stairs & a little girl.
We moved to the 3rd bedroom which is the grown up son’s room.
Carols feet are freezing again, there is definitely an animal following us around here. Carol keeps picking up on a child in the house & wonders how long the current family have lived here. Carol sees the house in a different era. With no wallpaper or skirting boards etc, just brick walls & the windows are in a different place, it seems to be before electric as she can see a paraffin lamp. It seems as if the house has been extended as if they have had to take something away from the house to replace it with something else. Carol is still drawn to the stairs they have really changed, it feels as if there has been a death on the stairs just over the banister like a sheer drop, this was a female child.
Dave asked if the doors etc were original & in the original places just as carol thought about the same thing but could really come up with an answer.
Carol can feel something on her feet again & feels that some of the activity in the house started when all the changes to the house were being completed.
Carol feels that someone has drown in the canal.
Sheryl is sitting on the bed & Steve sees an Orb, so Carol goes & stands by her. There is another Orb that goes from the middle of the bed towards Carol’s stomach. Carol asked if it was the child that had drowned in the canal. But the main spirit that is here is a man.
Carols T-Shirt is being pulled again & she feels light headed, just as she say’s this there is a big Orb that goes from the bed up & over Carol’s head & shortly after another Orb goes from above Carol down to the floor.
Carol cannot see any furniture in the upstairs of the property. Dave asked if Carol can come up with a time on the property, Carol came up with around 1832. Some where in the house there has been a spinning wheel, maybe down stairs?
Carol keeps getting headaches so she sits down for a few minutes when she stands up her T-Shirt is being pulled again, she believes it is the little girl but she cannot see her only feel & sense her there. Joy moves next to Carol to see if she is affected but Joy cannot pick up anything.
We then move downstairs to have a break except for Carol, Sheryl & Steve who sit on the stairs to wards the bottom, again Carol’s feet are freezing as if there is something on them.
Carol keeps hearing noises behind Sheryl on the stairs & senses that it may be the little girl, so she asks her to play with the teddy bear (we have placed it there as a trigger object). Carol feels something touching her left hand that is close to the teddy. Steve’s camera suddenly turns it self off & carol can sense something to her left side so she keeps trying top encourage it to move the teddy bear. After a while we all move to the kitchen for a break.
In the kitchen Carol is talking about how much the room has changed & the whole structure of the house seems to have changed. Carol is drawn to the window overlooking the lock which you can hear running in the background. She feels that she should be more to the side of where it is now & also it being a smaller window & that the door used to be on the side of the house instead of the front.
Joy keeps being drawn to the lock as if something has happened just outside the cottage. Carol stands in the porch & feels as if she is swaying, she comes up with a drowning that has happened just down a bit from here within the last twenty years, but she cannot pick up anything else at the moment.
Carol say’s that the spinning wheel she sensed earlier used to be in the living room.
Tony & Teresa who lives in the house came home & was introduced to the team after a while Carol went outside with Dave to try to look to see if she could see changes in the brickwork to back up her thoughts, but it was to dark to see. While they were outside they went a walk just a few yards down the towpath there are some ladders painted white on the top that go down into the lock/canal Carol said that there was a body around this area & she said that there was someone that had drowned further down the canal near some more steps within the last 20 years. They came in shortly after that as Carol saw a man further up the towpath he looked tall big built.
Ian & Steve went a walk down the towpath & they could see the man in the distance but as they got closer he seemed to disappear so they turned round to come back to the cottage, Ian had taken a few steps when the man reappeared, but Ian couldn’t avoid him & walked through him!!!!!!! Typical neither Ian & Steve had any cameras with them.
Upon there return & they told us what had just happened we all decided along with Tony to take a walk down the canal. None of saw anything but after walking for a while Carole stopped & said that there were two men one managed to jump the lock but the other one tried to jump but misjudged the distance as he had jumped in panic hitting his head on the lock wall & falling in the canal. Carol also came up with the name of Kevin.
Tony at this point was willing to confirm what Carol had just come up with. About 8/9 years ago there was two men being chased by the police down the towpath when on man jumped to the other side but Kevin had tried to jump but fell into the lock hitting his head, the police tried to save him but his body was retrieved later from the canal & lay outside the cottage for a while. Which Carol had mentioned earlier on. After a while we all made our way back to the house very happy with what had just happened.
After a while Sheryl & Joy went to the main bedroom to see if they could pick up on anything, shortly after wards they were joined by Carol, Ian, Steve, John & Dave. Carol sat on the right side of the bed as she was drawn to that corner again. After a while Carol asked if any thing ever goes missing either it is metal or contains some kind of metal. Also asks if they have seen a little girl in here (this corner where Carol is an alcove, this is next to the son’s room & the little girl has been seen in there near this wall) Carol asked if John thought this room was heavy, to which he agreed. Sheryl asked out a few times for the male spirit to come forward – no response. Carol is still drawn to this corner, she gets the feeling that someone gets woken up with this man standing over them. Sheryl asked out for the man to step aside & for the little girl to come forward to play, Carol heard a dog growling but there wasn’t a dog in the room.
Carol went downstairs & Tony came into the room & sat on the right hand side of the bed with John, as this is his side of the bed & is woken several times a week with feeling of being choked & his heart really racing, he has seen the man at the side & the end of the bed. Sheryl asked out for the man to come forward & to affect one of us, after asking out a few times Tony had to leave the room due to him feeling really rough & his heart racing, Tony later came back, we asked out again & the same thing happened again. We all left the room.
We sat on the stairs for a little while & between Carol & John they described the little girl that has been seen by Tony sitting on the bottom of stairs with her scruffy clothes & a little teddy bear in her hands she looks as if she would have either been very a very poor family or a boat kid.
Teresa also confirmed that the little animal running around after Carol & sitting on her feet was their little dog that passed away last year.
