The team members who were present on this investigation were:-
Nick French, Sarah French, Ann French, Em French, Joy, Steve Sturch, John Alldridge, Dave Blower, Sheryl Blower, Ian Blower & Mark Ireland.
Guest Visitors – Jo & Steve C
The team started to arrive from about 23.00 onwards at the Castle to set up the equipment (camcorders, monitors and video recorders) and to discuss the plan for the investigation.
We had four locked off cameras this evening in the following areas
Cam 1 was in the Great Hall along with the vibration detector on the Queens throne. The temperature was 17.5 degrees Celsius, and a reading of between 0 – 0.2 gauss was picked up on the EMF meter reading
Cam 2 was in the South Tower (This is outside & derelict). The temperature in here was 10 degrees Celsius with a zero meter reading from the EMF
Cam 3 – was in the Kings Chamber. The temperature was 21 degrees Celsius with a zero meter reading from the EMF
Cam 4 – was in the North Tower. The temperature in here was 9.3 degrees Celsius also with a zero reading from the EMF
As John went round taking the temperature readings he picked up on something to do with Coins in the Kings Chamber and the name of Gabrielle in the South Tower.
At 00.40am all the video’s started to record the locked off camcorders. The following teams went to do the following vigil's while Sarah and Ann watched the monitors.
Three teams went to start their investigations.
Team 1 Dave, Sheryl, Em, Joy & Jo went to the South Tower.
Team 2 John, Steve (S), Steve (C) & Ian went to the Kings Chambers/Great Hall
Nick went to the North Tower to do a lone vigil.
00.55am Team 1 went to the South Tower, Em & Dave were both recording with hand held video cameras. The team settled into the atmosphere of the tower, which is quite difficult as the tower has no roof.
01.05am Sheryl asked out to see if there was anyone there etc and for a spirit to come forward – No response.
01.07am Asked out again – No response
01.10am Asked out again – After a couple of seconds we all heard a noise that was coming from the front of the tower on the right hand side of the door. After investigating where the noises seemed to be coming from. We discovered two pigeons huddled together in the wall half way up where on the floor joists used to be.
01.25am Sheryl asked out again – No response
01.27am Joy’s right arm started to shake about until her glove came off.
01.30am Joy’s left arm is now shaking until her glove comes off again. The shaking stops but she now starts to get pins & needles in her right arm. Both her hands are now very cold & her breathing becomes very heavy & shallow. Joy puts her gloves back on.
01.33am Sheryl asks out – No response
01.35am Joy’s arms start to flap about & shake again until her gloves this time come off & land a good few feet away from where she is standing. Joy feels ok and is just walking round.
01.45am Sheryl asks out again – there is no noise response but Jo thinks she saw a light on the steps from the door into the tower. Sheryl asked out again but still no response.
02.00am Team 1 leaves the South Tower.
02.15am After refreshments Team 1 go to the Great Hall, were they are joined by Ann & Sarah. Dave, Em & Sarah all have video cameras. They have put some trigger objects on the floor which is a small plastic train, a small teddy bear & some marbles.
02.27am After settling down Sheryl asks out for any spirits to come forward. Ann goes really cold, all down her spine.
02.30am Sheryl asked out again & Joy seems to become affected by something as her breathing becomes very heavy and she her body seems to shake all over. She has no control of it. Joy becomes very upset, crying and she has the feelings that she is being hit by a man “a father figure”, she asks him to stop hitting her but in a child like voice. Sheryl asks for the spirit to leave Joy alone, for her to come forward & the spirit to back away. At this point both Sarah & Dave see an Orb (through the video camera) that seems to come from the middle of Joy’s back. Due to Joy becoming really upset & violent shaking she is taken from the room to recover. Ann goes with her
02.45am Steve & John join the team that are still in the Great Hall. John senses a lady touching his hair, she is trying to affect him, she doesn’t seem happy. Steve moves over to the fire place where they feel the lady to be. Sheryl asks out for the lady to show herself or move something. Steve feels that he needs to rake the fire. John say’s that the lady has told him that she would not move anything. Steve feels that we are all being watched.
02.50am Steve asks out for her to knock on something or to touch one of us. Steve senses that the lady is quite high up in the ranking of life. John senses that she isn’t very happy. John’s image of the lady is of her sitting at the desk writing & that the desk isn’t where it is know but it faces the window. Steve picks up the name of “Ann”. There is a big pillar in the middle of the Great Hall & John feels that there was once seating around the pillar. He had also sensed that there was a settee in the room & there were heavy blue curtains at the windows. He feels that she was more than a maid, that she may have run the household. She was wearing a flat white bonnet tied under her chin, young lady maybe in her late 20’s. Steve feels that he wants to pace the floor with his hands behind his back. John say’s that the lady is putting a letter in an envelope or sealing it & hands it to someone, he feels that it maybe a secret but not a love letter, and she is a very hard woman. Jo becomes very cold. Steve picks up on a man that has green cloth over him with a belt around his middle with a sword. The cloth has a pattern down the side & he has long hair. Jo has seen a mist around the toys on the floor; Sarah looks at the toys with the camcorder but can’t see anything. Steve wants to go back to the 14th century.
03.10am John, Em, Ann, Joy, Dave, Ian, Sheryl, Sarah & Jo all moved to the king’s chamber to join Nick. Dave & Ian went to stand on the stairs upon Nick’s request, to see if they could sense anything
03.14am Sheryl asked out for a spirit to come forward & to make a noise etc.
03.15am Joy has gone really cold & shaking. John thinks it is a little girl called Ellie. John is asking if the little girl will speak to him through Joy. Joy starts to giggle & she keeps saying ok dear in a child like voice. Joy/Ellie wants Ann to rock her & she seems to calm down, she starts to giggle again & shake (she seems to have been taken over) she wants to be rocked & Annie starts to sing Rock a Bye Baby. John asks Ellie questions, it is established that she is 9 years old & that she is linked to the man that was “hitting” Joy in the Kings Chamber. After a while John asks Ellie to leave Joy alone, then a few minutes later she seems to come back giggling & shaking again. John asked again for Ellie to leave Joy alone.
Steve comes into the room with Sarah from Tutbury Castle. Nick asked John if he could stand on the 3rd step of the stairs to see if he can feel anything. After a while John picks up on a man called William, smartly dressed a nice man. Sarah has a shiver down her spine & John picks up on someone coming into the room, Sarah is cold her down her left arm. John picks up on Ellie again & she is saying sorry for making the lady (Joy) feel like that. John is sensing that someone is holding his wrist. John asks Ellie is she wants to go & play with the toys (the trigger objects in the Kings Chamber) in the other room on the floor at 3.33am he feels Ellie leave him. Steve senses a male at the top of the stairs& that he doesn’t want us there, he feels a draft of cold air go past him, John is still sitting on the floor in front of the stairs & he feels this man next to him, then he moves to the right hand corner of the room (opposite the stairs). After a few minutes he seems to move back to the bottom of the stairs. Steve says that he wants to scratch John’s neck as he sits in front of the stairs. Steve went to go up the stairs but he feels any icy blast. John feels pain in his neck & the top of his head as if he has been hit with something.
03.54am Steve still senses someone on the stairs; John can also see him & asks him. Steve says that he his holding his arm it starts to feel that it is being squeezed, he say’s it’s as if his arm is disappearing, he can’t see or feel it. Steve moves away & rubs his arm the feeling gradually comes back. Trevor (from Tutbury) comes into the room. He sits on the stairs to see if he can feel anything. Trevor starts to tell us how this story goes………
That this William stood on the stairs & watched a man beat & kill a little girl (Ellie) & didn’t do anything, William was possibly a servant, and he stands on the stairs ashamed that he didn’t do anything. John picks up on Harold, he thinks that this is Ellie’s dad & he killed her. Maybe the William was asked to dispose of her, maybe in a wall as there were various types of work going on for over 400 hundred years.
04.00am We all leave the room & go for refreshments & discuss what has just happened. Some of the team members wonder around the grounds & the other remains of towers etc.

This was a very enjoyable night with lots of activity so much so that we hardly any time to stop and think.
